XAC1000 Electric Balanced Isolator
Reference Power Protection and Isolator System
The Extraudio XAC1000 is an advanced electrical protection system designed to ensure the safety, stability, and energy integrity of high-end audio systems.
Unlike products that regenerate or reconstruct the AC waveform, the XAC1000 preserves the original waveform, keeping its natural harmonics fully intact.
This approach is especially critical in high-fidelity systems and vacuum-tube electronics, where the integrity of the power supply is an essential part of the final musical result.
The XAC1000 does not alter the character of the system.
It protects, stabilizes, and conditions the energy so that the electronics operate exactly as they were designed to.
Electrical protection as a priority
At the heart of the XAC1000 lies a medical-grade balanced transformer with an Extraudio-exclusive Sandcore core, developed in the Netherlands.
This non-ferrous core:
- Eliminates magnetic distortions
- Reduces vibrations and mechanical hum
- Prevents oscillations typical of conventional cores
- Blocks DC components present in the power grid
The transformer integrates a built-in protection system that continuously monitors temperature and overload conditions, acting preventively to protect connected equipment and ensure safe, long-term operation.
Active protection from power-up
The XAC1000 incorporates inrush current limiters using NTC thermistors, effectively reducing current peaks during system start-up.
This system:
- Protects internal components
- Prevents external breaker or fuse tripping
- Reduces electrical stress on amplifiers and power supplies
Ensures a stable and controlled power-up sequence.
Filtering, isolation, and true energy control
The XAC1000 integrates:
- EMI and RF input filtering
- Galvanic isolation between primary and secondary stages
- Integrated virtual ground, especially useful in rural or electrically compromised installations
The result is a stable, silent, and controlled electrical environment, where power-line impurities are prevented from reaching the audio electronics.
Dedicated outputs for each type of electronics
The XAC1000 is designed to properly power each category of equipment:
- 2 dedicated high-current outputs for power amplifiers (10–16 A), with EMI/RF filtering and virtual ground
- 4 multifunction outputs for sources, DACs, and preamplifiers, each with specific filtering, galvanic isolation, and virtual ground
Each output is engineered for its real function within the system, preventing electrical interaction between components.
No-compromise technical and mechanical design
- Full-size chassis, mechanically and electrically decoupled from the rest of the system
- Sorbothane anti-vibration feet, specifically designed for Extraudio
- Cryogenically treated outlets, for maximum conductivity and minimal electrical resistance
- Balanced or standard AC output selector, eliminating the need to identify live and neutral conductors
The entire assembly has been conceived as an integrated technical solution, not as an accessory.
Available options
- Cryogenically treated transformer (optional)
Cryogenic treatment improves electrical conductivity, reduces internal resistance, and increases the mechanical stability of the transformer, further enhancing protection and energy control.
